It was for its 60th anniversary in 2008 that Longchamp reedited this line, previously commercialized at the beginning of the 1970s. Originally designed for the Japanese market by Philippe Cassegrain, the success of this line enabled Longchamp to be recognized as a ladies’ bag designer and continue its expansion all over Asia.
The current versions « LM Verni » (patent leather), « LM toile » (fabric) and « LM Métal » (metallic) are emanations of the original version and all bear the original product codes: precise reproduction of the logo on the patent leather version with the historic design depicting small horses and intertwined belts.
By the way, what does LM stand for? Longchamp Maroquinerie, or in English, “Small Leathergoods by Longchamp”!
